Ride to Endure
In September 2020 I assumed the role as my uncle Bruce’s primary caregiver. For the next four months, I gained an up-close perspective on the challenges and pain of Bruce’s battle with ALS. Following my time as Bruce’s caregiver, I set off to bikepack the Baja Divide in the Spring of 2021. I knew I wanted to stay involved with supporting Bruce and the greater ALS community. I reached out to my cousin Aaron, Bruce’s son, and proposed a that he come with me, back to Baja the following year, and document my attempt at setting a record on the Baja Divive as a fundraiser for ALS. From that conversation that the Ride To Endure Project was born.
In 2022 Aaron, along with two other volunteer videographers captured my successful attempt at setting the fastest known time on the Baja Divide. This first annual campaign of Ride To Endure raised $50,000 for the Massachusetts ALS Association. The year after, in 2023 I used my ride of the 1000 mile Iditarod Trail Invitational as the second Ride To Endure Campaign.
In September 2024 the documentary, Ride To Endure: A Journey For ALS to Set the Baja Divide FKT, was released to the world. To Date the Ride to Endure Project hase rased over $100,000 for the grater ALS community and research. Be on the look out for the next campaign coming soon!

Vermont Bicycle Shop
In July 2023 Vermont experienced historic flooding. Berre, VT was one of the communities hardest hit. The Vermont Bicycle Shop, located in the heart of Berre, suffered significant damages and losses. Having used the Vermont Bicycle Shop as my primary shop when in Vermont for many years, I felt compelled to help.
“Darren and the Bike Shop represent the best of the bike world. Darren’s commitment to being a positive contributor to the local community is very evident, and this ethos is clear in the way the shop is run. I hope this fundraiser will make a meaningful impact in the recovery of this vital member of the central Vermont community to thrive into the future.”
In September 2023, I set off on the 650 mile Vermont Super 8 bikepacking route. I used my ride to raise money for the recovery efforts of the Vermont Bicycle Shop. Alongside the work of many other amazing community members and dedicated volunteers, the ride helped raise $24,000 to support recovery efforts.

Defend the West Su
As part of my second voyage on the Iditarod trail, fat biking 1000 miles from Anchorage to Nome, AK through the heart of the Alaskan winter wilderness, in 2024 I partnered with Defend The West Su project to bring awareness and gather signatures to stop the construction of the proposed Susitna industrial access road.
